Post staff report
Be Concerned's fourth annual pre-Christmas sale Saturday will offer a multitude of items for crafters.
The sale, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the agency's headquarters at 714 Washington Street, Covington, will feature fabric squares, yards of material, hundreds of spools of thread, decorative trims and edgings and basting materials.
Also in the sale will be thousands of Christmas cards, wrapping paper and ribbon, new shoes and clothes, used toys, Christmas games and decorations.
Proceeds will be used to buy new toys for Be Concerned's 36th annual Christmas Store, set for Dec. 10-14.
Last year, more than 900 children received toys at the store.
They came from 1,300 families who also received food -- including all the fixings for a Christmas dinner -- clothing, housewares and hygiene products.
The agency spends about $20,000 on the store and hopes to raise $4,000 to $5,000 from the sale, said Director Mary Jennings.
Families who are not in Be Concerned's regular program may still sign up for the Christmas Store on Nov. 15 and 16, from 10 a.m. to noon each day. Call (859) 291-6789 for more information.
