Guidelines for Starting a New Business

To begin the process, follow these easy steps: Contact the City's Economic Development Department at 859-292-2163 for information on potential locations for your business, business development incentives, and business start up technical assistance. Contact the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission (NKAPC) at 859-331-8980 to make sure the location of the new business is zoned correctly. An application must be completed and submitted, along with a $75.00 filing fee. Obtaining a Zoning Permit is required for all signage. After the Zoning Permit is approved, contact the City's Finance Department at 859-292-2184 to obtain an Occupational License. Complete and submit an Occupational License application, along with a $30.00 filing fee. It's just that easy for your new business to be up and running!
